In the classic V8 cars, the fuel tank pickup pipe is made of mild steel. These often corrode to the point of forming pinholes.
This causes the pump to draw air instead of fuel, which results in either the effect you have run out of fuel, or worse, the car can run lean and cause damage to the engine.
There should also be a mesh pickup filter that is usually long gone!
AstonSpares solution is to manufacture a complete new assembly. The pipe, fitting and flange are all stainless steel. The bespoke removable pickup filter is constructed from brass and is completely serviceable.
This is a properly engineered, full Stainless Steel and brass replacement complete with gaskets.
